Voices from recent work

“They spent three mornings on our settlement floor before touching the slide template. The unmatched THB batches from Songkran week finally had owners.”

Nattapong K., Settlement Manager, Bangkok acquiring desk

“The fee review caught a promotional MDR that never expired in the gateway even though commercial had ended it in March. Merchants had been quiet; the ledger had not.”

Priya S., Partnerships Finance, regional payment facilitator

“Useful fieldwork, though access to the chargeback archive took longer than anyone hoped — the team flagged that delay early instead of pretending the timeline was fine.”

Evan R., Internal Audit, ASEAN fintech group

“Pre-launch control review forced us to name who owns daily reconciliation before we boarded the second rail. That argument alone was worth the workshop.”

Arisa W., Head of Finance Operations, gateway start-up (Bangkok)

Extended story: Dual-currency settlement drift

A mid-sized facilitator asked for a payment gateway financial audit after their external auditors questioned USD merchant payouts clearing through a THB operating account. Over five weeks we sampled sixty settlement batches, interviewed the treasury cut-off owner, and traced twelve material unmatched items to a weekend FX hold that the gateway labelled as “complete.”

The findings letter separated timing differences from true breaks. Management cleared eight items before our closing workshop; four remained as remediation with named owners. The client’s mild frustration — that extract delivery slipped a week — is recorded in our wrap-up because it compressed the review window for chargebacks. We still delivered the fee and settlement sections in full; dispute sampling ran at a reduced rate agreed in writing.

Extended story: Reserve release timing

For a chargeback ledger assessment, a card-acquiring team wanted comfort before releasing a portion of rolling reserves. We walked forty dispute cases from gateway status to general ledger posting and found reserve releases booking one cycle earlier than the scheme’s final loss date. The adjustment was accounting, not fraud — and the client used the memo in their next audit committee pack.
